George Goad is in his first year as principal trumpet with the CSO. He was a fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida last season. He recently completed his Master’s degree from The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where he studied with Barbara Butler and Charlie Geyer. He is also a graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he studied with Philadelphia Orchestra principal trumpet David Bilger. He has been a guest performer with the Rodney Mack Philadelphia Big Brass, Symphony in C, the Britten-Pears Orchestra (Aldeburgh, England), the Boston Symphony, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. He has spent summers with the National Repertory Orchestra, the Aspen Music Festival, and the Tanglewood Music Center. He grew up in Rockford, Michigan, where he studied with Aaron Good and Gregory Good in his early years. When away from the trumpet, George is an avid distance runner and can be found with his wife exploring the numerous metro parks in Columbus.
